Info on Submitting Comics to Komikwerks

Komikwerks is always looking for new comics to publish. If you would like a shot at publishing your work with us, please first read the following criteria for consideration of publishing with Komikwerks:

1. YOU MUST OWN THE RIGHTS TO THE CHARACTERS AND IDEAS IN YOUR STORIES.

If you have an original story and character ideas that you own the rights to, we'd love to hear about them. Please do NOT send us ideas for comics based on someone else's properties. (As much as we love Star Wars and Spider-Man, we CANNOT publish comics that use them without permission from their owners.) If you send us an idea for a comic with someone else's characters, we will immediately discard it.

2. YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE CONTENT GUIDELINES:

Komikwerks has three simple content guidelines, which will ensure Komikwerks and its creators are seen as responsible, professional storytellers:
1. No graphic sex (nothing beyond R-rated movies, please)
2. No graphic violence (no Texas Chainsaw Massacre-level gore)
3. You must agree to a voluntary rating system for each comic on the site. Similar to movies, at the beginning of a comic, we will display a mark like "PG-13".

We reserve the right to dictate what we feel does and does not meet these guidelines, and we will tell you accordingly.

3. YOU MUST ASSEMBLE YOUR OWN CREATIVE TEAM

Because of our many duties here at Komikwerks, we don't have the time to connect individual creators with each other in order to collaborate. (We have set up a tool with which you can do that, though. Go to our Kollaborators page.) We're looking for projects that you can write, draw, letter and color on your own. You can do it all yourself or have a team of collaborators; both approaches are fine by us. Just so long as you understand that we personally cannot supply you with collaborators, nor with editors to bounce ideas off of.

4. WHAT TO SEND US:

We are not looking for any particular amount of issues with our comics. If you have a great idea for an ongoing or limited series, we'd love to hear about it. We also have no restrictions on genre, format, or medium: whatever tickles your creative fancy is cool with us. More than anything else, we're looking for well-told comic stories. We need to see pages of your illustrated sequential story. These pages can be colored, lettered, and inked or just pencilled. We want to get a feel for your storytelling ability. Please do NOT send us pin-ups or cover art. This does not allow us to tell the quality of your panel-to-panel drawing skills.

You may send these pages to us in one of two ways:
--> Send, through the Postal Service, 5-10 pages of pencilled story. We do NOT need to see a full script.
--> Email us a URL where your work is already posted on the web, so you can save time and postage!

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT EMAIL US FILES OF YOUR WORK. THESE CLOG UP OUR EMAIL SYSTEMS, AND IF WE DO RECIEVE THEM, WE WILL DISCARD THEM

5. AND NOW, OUR DISCLAIMER:

We know getting the above together isn't easy. Comics are truly a labor of love, and we respect everyone who takes the time to put these submissions together.

Something you should keep in mind is that we are unable to critique your work and provide you serious feedback. We are extremely busy, and if we were to give out advice to every person who sent in submissions, we'd have to spend all our time doing nothing else.

If you are looking for more feedback than we can provide, Komikwerks suggests you seek out professionals at conventions and store appearances who are doing portfolio reviews.

Thanks for reading this entire page! We hope to hear from you soon!
