1. What is Komikwerks?

Komikwerks is a comic publisher dedicated to publishing professional, high-quality, creator-owned, comics, distributed through traditional print means as well as more modern, technically advanced means like the web. Komikwerks came together as a conduit for a collective of professional artists and writers from many different creative fields, who wanted to publish their creations free of editorial and corporate restraint, as well as not being confined to the outdated, standard, 22 page format comic. Creators will be able to dictate the length and frequency of their creations.

The comics industry is a competitive area and with rising publishing prices it is very costly to publish your own work, so Komikwerks removes cost, time, and worry by publishing all the creators' work together in an inexpensive and easily accessed environment: the web. This removes the creators need to make a commercial product and allows them to concentrate on and explore the art form that is comics.

The founders of Komikwerks have, and continue to come into contact with literally hundreds of frustrated professional comic creators who have great ideas and work, but have had trouble getting their creations published, or have been published but were unable to continue doing so because of cost...Understanding that pain firsthand, we decided to do something -- and Komikwerks was born.

As Komikwerks evolved, we saw the opportunity to push the boundaries of how comics are created. As varied as the creators who make them, the comics you'll read on Komikwerks will come in a multitude of styles and formats. You'll see traditionally crafted comics on our site, as well as photo comics, 3-D rendered comics, painted comics, and who knows what else? The sky's the limit!

2. What type of comics will I find on Komikwerks?

You can find every genre and every style of comic on Komikwerks. We are committed to publishing great comics of all types, by all kinds of professional creators.

The only restrictions Komikwerks has on its content are the following: a. No graphic sex (nothing beyond R-rated movies) b. No graphic violence (also nothing beyond R-rated movies)

Why you ask? No, we're not prudes, we just want as many people as possible to be able to read these comics. The artform shouldn't be limited, but by doing this we actually reach a greater number of people with the artform that is comics. Children and adults alike will be able to look through Komikwerks and outside of a few zealots we should be able to entertain as many people as possible. There is a rating system on all of Komikwerks' comics, adopted from the movie rating system we all know, and we aim not to have any comics on our site above an "R" rating, and we'll use that rating infrequently. By and large, our comics are PG-13 and lower.

3. Are there printed issues or books I can buy?

You bet there are - and they aren't just printed versions of the comics we have on line, though they are by many of the same creators. Check out our previews, and even buy them online here!
